About Ray's Dog Treats
Hey there! Thank you so much for visiting Ray's Dog Treats. My name is Ray McEachern and I am a Non-Binary Trans artist living on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, commonly known as Vancouver BC.
I have always been drawn to animals as long as I can remember. My family got our first dog, Toffie, when I was 11, after years of begging. My Mom wouldn't let me take him with me when I moved away to a different city just before my 18th. At 20 I adopted the first dog that was my own, Charlie, and we had many wonderful years together. In Charlie's old age came some health problems and her appetite fluctuated. Being someone who enjoys baking I decided to attempt to make some extra tasty goodness packed soft treats to entice her to eat more. She loved her peanut butter and oh boy it worked, she gobbled them up as I hand fed them to her along with her kibble. Sadly Charlie had to be put down in July 2017 at an estimated 14 years of age.
Since Charlie's passing I have had a steady flow of dog friends keeping me company on days when their parents are busy with work, or for sleepovers when they go out of town. She would love all the pups I get to spend my time with. It didn't take long for my dog friends humans to ask if I would make Charlie's dog treat recipe again and if they could order some. At the time it was a soft treat recipe and with lots of moisture and a short shelf life. With a bit of experimenting and quality control testing from dog friends, I cracked the code for the perfect dog treats with that satisfying peanut butter taste and crunch!
Summer 2019 with a push from friends I decided to step it up a notch and try my hand The Eastside flea market. With great feedback and now an Instagram page for engagement beyond my friend circle, Ray's Dog Treats were on their way into the mouths of many happy dogs. Covid bringing new obstacles and The Eastside Flea having to put a pause on markets, it was time to work on getting a website up and running.
I am so happy to be able to make my tasty dog treats accessible to many more folks and I thank you for visiting, ordering or sharing! Spoiling dogs with love and treats is one of my favourite things and I know I have many agreeing with me. We love to get our dogs all that extra cute stuff, even if they can't always tell the difference. Ray's Dog Treats are half for the Dogs and half for the owners. A perfect balance of aesthetically adorable and deliciously tasty, these are the best way to show your dog how much you love them.
Every treat is made with love and care from a super dog lover. I wouldn't sell any treat that I wouldn't feed to Charlie or all the dogs I get to have in my life. Our dogs are so special to us and being able to make them treats is the best job ever! Thank you for spoiling the dogs in your life and supporting this dog loving baker.
